De Doode Beemde
‘De Doode Beemde’ is a natural reserve close to Leuven (Belgium). ’Beemd’ means meadow or mead. ‘Doode’ is ‘dead’. The terrain is extremely swampy in wintertime. It attracks lots of rare birds.

Apples & Oranges
Photo: today, in a neighboring village. Apples, frozen and crumbling, orange peel thrown aside, also various unidentified non flying objects, and a lot of fresh grass or grass whitering away.
The Pink Floyd song is quite different. It is one of of their handful of ‘singles’ before they stopped releasing 45rpm’s. I do like like the early Floyd sound, up until Atom Heart Mother.
There, you obviously find scattered leaves on the driveway’s asphalt. One day, cracks will begin to show. Soil, water, fertilizer will trickle down into the cracks and will give way to the growth of weeds. When the cracks seem large they get filled up with more water and more humus, shrubs will grow the hard way, trees will stand in line, silently. Humans could turn back the clock but will they.
